Q. How to book Saver and Prepaid fares online
When you arrive on the sailing selection screen, select "View fares" on the right side under the price to show all available fare choices for each sailing.
To learn more about the different fare choices, including change and cancellation fees, select 'Compare fares'.
Choose the fare you want to book using the "Select" button, then complete your booking and payment.
Q. What is the reservation fee for a Prepaid fare?
A. If you book a Prepaid fare more than 7 days in advance of travel, the reservation fee is $10. If booked within 7 days of travel, the reservation fee is $17.Q. Can I still book a $10 reservation on routes between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island?
A. If you’re purchasing a Reservation Only fare in advance of travel, that fee is now $17. The $10 reservation fee is still available when you purchase a Prepaid fare more than seven days in advance of travel. The Prepaid fare includes your reservation plus the fare for car and driver, and the option to cancel for a full refund, less the reservation fee, up to one hour before your booked sailing.
To ensure there is enough reservation space for all customers, we ask that you limit your purchase to a single reservation for the time of your desired sailing. In the past, some customers have purchased multiple reservations, which then limits the availability of reservations for other customers.Q. Can I book a Saver fare as a guest user on bcferries.com?
A. Yes. You can book a Saver fare or any other fare as a guest user on the website.Q. If I'm travelling using a Provincial Travel Assistance Program (TAP) form, what fare type should I book? Why can't I book a $10 reservation anymore?
A. If you are travelling using a TAP form, choose the Prepaid fare option. You will pay for your booking in advance, which includes a $10 reservation fee if booked more than seven days in advance. When you check in at the terminal, the fare will be refunded back to your original form of payment and charged to the MTAP form used to pay for travel. The reservation fee is non-refundable. Q. Is there a Seniors’ discount for Saver fares?
A. BC Seniors travel free on select routes Monday to Thursday. Seniors who book Saver fares from Monday to Thursday will only be charged for the cost of the vehicle.Q. Can I book and pay for group/school/senior/persons with disabilities and escort online?

Bookings cannot be made at the vehicle or foot passenger ticket booths.Q. Can I apply Saver fare to a Thru fare to the Southern Gulf Islands?
A. You cannot apply a Saver fare to a Thru fare. A Thru fare is a separate fare product only valid for travel to and from the Southern Gulf Islands via Swartz Bay.Q. I purchased a Saver fare, but arrived late on the day of travel and had to change sailings at the terminal. Why is the price different?
A. Saver fare pricing is only available on select sailings, subject to availability. If you arrived late and missed your sailing, you can use your Saver fare toward the purchase of an At Terminal fare by paying the difference between the Saver and the At Terminal fare price. Your fare must be put towards a different sailing on the same route, on the same day. At Terminal fare conditions apply, so you will be boarded after reserved customers in the order you arrive on the next available sailing, based on space availability.Q. I purchased a Prepaid fare, but on the day of travel my plans changed and I forgot to modify my sailing time. Can I still redeem my prepaid fare?
A. Yes, you can use your fare at the terminal to travel on a different sailing at no extra charge. You can only use your prepaid fare on the same route, on the same day. At Terminal fare conditions apply, so you will be boarded after reserved customers in the order you arrive on the next available sailing, based on space availability.
You can also cancel your Prepaid booking up to 1 hour before the scheduled departure time of your original booking for a full refund of the fare, less the reservation fee.Q. Can I still travel without booking in advance?
A. Yes. We continue to offer our At Terminal fare, which does not require an advance booking. Our At Terminal fare offers flexibility if you are unsure about your travel plans. If you travel on an At Terminal fare, you’ll be boarded after reserved customers in the order you arrive at the terminal, on the next available sailing, based on space availability.
We will always keep deck space available for customers who arrive at the terminal without a booking, however space may be limited. During popular travel times, you may experience a sailing wait. Q. Can I still book in advance without fully prepaying my fare?
A. Yes. The Reservation Only option is available. This option is ideal if you want travel certainty, but prefer not to fully prepay. You will pay a non-refundable $17 reservation fee at the time of booking, and then pay the remaining vehicle and passenger fares at the terminal when you redeem your booking.
You can change your sailing by paying a $5 change fee. This fare will always be available as long as there is bookable space on the ferry. Q. Why are the fare prices in the table different than the prices when I made a booking?
A fuel rebate is currently in effect, and will be automatically applied to all fares online and at the terminal. The fares shown in the table exclude the fuel rebate, so they are slightly higher than what you will pay.
