What you need to redeem your booking

When you arrive at the terminal, provide the ticket agent with your booking reference number or the phone number on your booking. You will need government-approved photo ID for proof of age as applicable (e.g. BC Seniors). You must check in with a foot passenger agent no later than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.


Boarding assistance

If you have requested boarding assistance, please arrive at least 60 minutes before the scheduled sailing to allow us enough time to get you comfortably on board. Please check in any large baggage when you arrive at the terminal.


Booking cancellations and changes to ferry travel

Payment is non-refundable and due at the time of booking. Changes to your booking can be made up to two hours prior to your scheduled departure, subject to the terms and conditions of the fare purchased and applicable fees. Check BC Ferries’ Cancellation/Change policies for details.


Sailing cancellations

If you check-in at the terminal and the sailing is then cancelled, we will make every effort to load you on the next available sailing where space is available.

Customers with a booking on the next scheduled departure will be loaded in advance of customers from the cancelled sailing. If we are unable to load you on the next available sailing, you will be loaded in order of arrival at the terminal.

If you choose not to travel, your fares will automatically refund to your original form of payment. We will also refund any changes made at check-in, which a ticket agent must process at the terminal. View more information about sailing cancellations.

If your BC Ferries Vacations package was affected by a sailing cancellation, you will need to contact our Vacations Centre at 1-888-BC FERRY (1-888-223-3779 Ext. 3), locally at 604-673-2440, or +8001BCFERRY (+80012233779) toll-free from outside Canada and the USA.


Conditions of Carriage/Rules & Requirements

By purchasing a booking, you acknowledge your acceptance of BC Ferries’ Conditions of Carriage and Rules & Requirements (available upon request at any terminal or on any ferry).

The non-authorized resale of a booking/reservation is prohibited unless contracted through BC Ferries.


Health and safety

To support the health and wellness of our customers and employees, all BC Ferries vessels and terminals are smoke and vape-free environments. BC Ferries has a zero tolerance policy for passengers under the influence of drugs or alcohol and any unacceptable conduct that can be associated with impairment. The consumption of drugs and alcohol on BC Ferries’ vessels and at its terminals is prohibited. We all deserve to feel safe and respected—violence and foul language will not be tolerated and may result in denial of service.

 Masks recommended

Following direction from the Provincial Health Officer, masks are no longer mandatory in indoor public settings. Masks are recommended indoors at terminals and on board.

Please respect your fellow passengers and our crews if they choose to wear a mask, comfort levels will vary as restrictions change.

 The non-authorized resale of a booking/reservation is prohibited unless contracted through BC Ferries.
  • Change booked sailing time: no charge, changes may be made up to two hours in advanced of the booked sailing, for sailings still open for advance sales.
  • Change booking to travel with a vehicle: If you have a foot passenger booking and want to change it to travel with a vehicle, you can change your booking online to include a vehicle* by accessing your BC Ferries account or from the link in your booking confirmation email. Your Prepaid foot passenger booking amount will be applied towards your new vehicle booking, based on the fare type you select.
  • Change passenger type: pay or receive refund for any price difference in price.
  • Customer cancels booking or no-show: no refunds.
  • Travel on an earlier or later sailing on same day as booked sailing: No charge, customer accommodated subject to space availability. Applicable only for the same day, route and direction of travel as booked.
* Subject to availability. The sailing with your confirmed foot passenger booking may be sold out for vehicle bookings. After you confirm the change(s), your booking will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the fare choice you selected. You will be required to pay for any additional passengers not already covered by your original foot passenger booking.
