Coastal Cafe

Choose from a wide variety of delicious menu items at our self-serve cafeteria-style restaurant, open throughout the day. Offering hearty breakfasts, burgers and entrées, fresh salads, delicious sandwiches and fresh pastries. White Spot burgers and entrées are featured for lunch and dinner on the following routes:

How to order food online

To order food, visit and follow the online ordering instructions.


When can I order food?

You can order your food anytime on your day of travel, including during the first 50 minutes of the sailing.

Only order food when you have a reservation for a specific sailing, or you are at the terminal and have confirmed the sailing and ferry you are on.

Note: Online food ordering is only available on the following ferries:

  • Spirit of British Columbia
  • Spirit of Vancouver Island

These two ferries usually sail between Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Victoria (Swartz Bay).

I don't know what ferry I'll be on—how do I find out?

On the day of sailing, visit current conditions, select your route, then select your sailing time. The ferry name appears under the dropdown where you selected your sailing time.

You can also ask the ticket agent which ferry you're sailing on when you purchase your ticket at the terminal.

How to pick up your food

When you order, you can choose earliest possible pick up or set a specific time during the sailing to pick up your food.

When it’s time to pick up your order, go to the online order pick-up area (on the left side of the cafeteria). When your order is ready, the order number you received in your order confirmation email will display on the screen to let you know you can pick up your order.

Problems with orders and refunds
I ordered food online, but missed my sailing. How do I get a refund?

To start, refunds will be available during the first three months of operation as customers get used to our new online order system.

To request a refund and/or cancel your order, customers must notify us through a crewmember, at the Chief Steward’s Office on board or by calling the Customer Service Centre at 1-888-BC FERRY (1-888-223-3779). After the first three months, you will only receive a refund if you notify BC Ferries a minimum of one hour in advance of start of pick up window).

Note: only order food online when you have a reservation or you are at the terminal and have confirmed the sailing and ferry you're on.


What happens if I ordered food and BC Ferries cancels the sailing (due to weather, mechanical or, other extended delay)?

You will automatically receive a refund the same day your order was placed.


I ordered food online but received the wrong order or there’s a problem with my order. How do I get a new order?

Our team will be happy to help. Speak to a crew member in the online order pick up area on the left side of the cafeteria if you have any problems with your order.


I'm trying to order food but keep getting an error message?

Sometimes the online ordering system experiences technical difficulties. If you get an error message when trying to order food online, you may still purchase food in person from the cafeteria while on board the ship.


I'm trying to order food but can't connect to the onboard Wi-Fi—what should I do?
Wi-Fi coverage onboard can be unreliable. If you are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi, use cellular data to place your order, or order your food in person.


Can I add items after placing an order?

After you place an order, you won't be able to change it. If you want to order extra items, you can place a new online order or order from the in-person ordering side of the cafeteria.

Why is BC Ferries launching this initiative?

We are providing customers with an easy and convenient way to pre-order and pick-up their food. With contactless pick-up, customers can grab their food and take it to an outer area of the ship or back down to their vehicle on the upper car deck to enjoy. We believe this initiative will reduce cafeteria line-ups and crowding, and allow for more space for physical distancing on board for customers.


Why do I have to create an account to order food?

By creating an account, the online order system will remember what you ordered previously, making it easier to reorder your favourites on your next trip. Please note that this is a different account than the one you use to log in to


Is there a fee to order online?

There is no fee to order online and the prices online are the same that are offered onboard. At times, promotional discounts for ordering online may be offered.


Will you offer online ordering on other ships and other routes?

We are launching this initiative as a trial on the two Spirit class ships travelling between Tsawwassen (Vancouver) and Swartz Bay (Victoria) to start. We will then evaluate the initiative and see if we are able to expand it to other ships and routes, where feasible.

* The Salish Class ferries have Coastal Cafes but do not serve White Spot.
