Infrastructure Program

The Horseshoe Bay / Langdale Infrastructure Program is underway. While no sailing cancellations associated with this work are planned, customers may notice changes to traffic patterns, vehicle staging, and loading procedures at Horseshoe Bay terminal. Advance bookings are required for all vehicles travelling from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay. Find out more: https://www.bcferries.com/hsb-travel

Horseshoe Bay Terminal Updates
Early works at Horseshoe Bay terminal have now concluded, and the lower terminal is once again open for vehicle staging. Customers are reminded to:

• Follow the direction of terminal personnel
• Check your ticket for your assigned lane number, as all vehicle staging lanes have changed

Long-term Parking

• Parking availability in the surface lot adjacent to the Horseshoe Bay terminal building has now been fully restored 
• Should this lot be full, additional parking is available in the BC Ferries parkade south of the terminal (entrance on the left after entering the village)
• During future construction work at Horseshoe Bay, parking may again be impacted. Information will be provided here.

Passenger Drop-off/Pick-up

• The passenger drop-off/pick-up area remains available
• A maximum wait time of three minutes is in effect

Future Construction

The Horseshoe Bay / Langdale Infrastructure Program is a multi-year, multi-terminal project.

The next phase of work is planned for Langdale terminal beginning in late 2026 through early 2027. Find out more here. 

Additional projects happening at Horseshoe Bay:

Electrical Cable Feed Replacement Project – September 14-29, 2026
Overnight work to replace the aging electrical cables will take place from September 14 to 29, and this project is not expected to impact scheduled service. Some equipment may generate moderate noise levels, and every effort will be made to minimize disturbance to nearby residents.

• Impacts: Long-term Parking
  • The east emergency exit stairway from the parkade will be closed to foot passenger traffic from September 14–28. Please follow signage for other emergency exit locations.
  • Select parking stalls on Parkade Levels 1 and 2 will be barricaded and out of service from September 14–28.
  • A backup power generator will be located on the terminal in Lane 11, next to the parkade’s east emergency exit stairway. It will operate continuously from September 21–25 and will be shielded to reduce noise impacts.

Berth 1 / 2 Skywalk Life Extension Project – September to November, 2026
The Horseshoe Bay Skywalk, which provides foot passenger access to vessels in berths 1 and 2 is being serviced to extend its operational life.

The Skywalk is currently closed and will be removed from site between October 19 – 24, 202. Once necessary upgrades are made off-site, the Skywalk will be reinstalled in late-November.

• Impacts: Foot passengers
  • Please follow the direction of terminal personnel and signage

• • If in doubt, check your ticket for boarding location
