About BC Ferries

Terminal Development Planning

The Skidegate terminal is the main gateway and connection between Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert and an important link for connecting communities on Moresby Island and Graham Island. It also is the gateway into Haida Gwaii for tourists arriving from Sandspit Airport.

As part of our strategic planning process, we are working on a Terminal Development Plan that will set out a long term vision for the future of the Skidegate terminal to enhance customer experience and ensure efficient operations over the long term. The Terminal Development Plan provides the framework for the phased implementation of strategies and a series of initiatives for the next 25 years.

Engaging with the Community

In Fall 2017, we initially engaged with the community and key stakeholders to gather feedback, suggestions and ideas that helped shape the design for the new terminal. This included community info sessions, stakeholder meetings, and an online survey. Learn more about the key issues and opportunities for Skidegate.

This fall, we shared the preferred design concepts with the community and key stakeholders to review and provide feedback. We are reviewing the feedback received and working on developing a refined option for the Skidegate terminal. Once complete, the refined option will be part of the final Terminal Development Plan and will be posted online for your review in early 2019.
