Introducing a Smoke-Free Environment

People on ferry image

To support the health and wellness of our customers and employees, BC Ferries introduced a smoke-free environment on board all vessels and at all terminals on January 22, 2018. This coincided with National Non-Smoking Week, which ran from January 21-28, 2018.

The smoke-free environment was implemented in January 2018 in order to provide customers with ample notice and allow employees who smoke the time to adjust to changes at their workplace. The new policy applies equally to BC Ferries’ employees and customers.

The smoke-free environment policy applies to smoking of tobacco, vapour products, e-cigarettes and medical marijuana. No smoking of any kind is permitted on board vessels or on terminal property.

We have received many requests from our customers to offer a smoke-free environment and we are pleased to have moved in this direction.
