Preparing for a Smoke-Free Environment

People on ferry image

To support the health and wellness of our customers and employees, BC Ferries will introduce a smoke-free environment on board all vessels and at all terminals as of January 22, 2018. This coincides with National Non-Smoking Week, which runs from January 21-28, 2018.

The smoke-free environment will be implemented in January 2018 in order to provide customers with ample notice and allow employees who smoke the time to adjust to changes at their workplace. The new policy will apply equally to BC Ferries’ employees and customers.

The smoke-free environment policy applies to smoking of tobacco, vapour products, e-cigarettes and medical marijuana. No smoking of any kind will be permitted on board all vessels and at all terminals.

We receive many requests from our customers to offer a smoke-free environment and we are pleased to move in this direction.
