Temporary Services to Mitigate Overloads - Bowen Island (Snug Cove) – Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay)
Issued on Thursday, September 29 at 6:00 pm:
The Queen of Capilano will be undergoing a maintenance refit and will be replaced by the Queen of Cumberland on the Bowen Island (Snug Cove) – West Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) route from Wednesday, October 12 to Sunday, November 20, 2022.
As the vehicle capacity of the Queen of Cumberland is lower than the Queen of Capilano (approximately 15 vehicles fewer), BC Ferries is promoting the following temporary services that are available to help mitigate overloads:
Discounted Parking Rates at Horseshoe Bay for Bowen Island Residents
- Reduced Monthly Rate: $100/month + tax (October and November 2022)
- Reduced Daily Rate: $10/24 hours (October 7 to November 21, 2022)
Bowen Island residents can register with the BC Ferries Customer Service desk (located in Horseshoe Bay behind the foot passenger ticket booths), to obtain a special dashboard pass and meter code. The Customer Service desk is open seven days a week from 7:15 am to 9:15 pm.
To take advantage of the discounted monthly rates, customers will need to provide Customer Service with a valid driver’s license showing a Bowen Island address, in addition to the make, model, and license plate number of the vehicle using the parking pass.
Customers must display the registered pass and Impark payment receipt on their dashboard. Failure to do so will result in a parking violation.
Assured Loading for High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV)
To encourage carpooling, vehicles with four (4) or more passengers (including the driver) will be provided assured loading on the 4:35 pm, 5:45 pm, and 6:50 pm sailings from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island each weekday.*
*Maximum 10 vehicles per sailing. Vehicles must arrive at Horseshoe Bay no later than 20 minutes prior to departure time.
