Highway 99 Reduced Lanes and Closures

As part of the Steveston Interchange Project, the interchange between Steveston Highway and Highway 99 in Vancouver will have temporary reduced lanes and closures on the following weekends starting February 7.

- February 21 – 24
- February 28 – March 3

Customers looking to travel to or from Tsawwassen terminal along that portion of Highway 99 during the noted times will be impacted and should plan accordingly. An overnight detour will be in effect using on and off ramps, however, travellers should be prepared for delays as a result.
Reduced lanes will be in effect Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, with two lanes open in both directions during this time.
Those using transit to Tsawwassen are advised to take earlier bus departures due to the project work. Transit schedules can be found here.

BC Ferries supports educational resources for students in Haida Gwaii and the Gulf Islands
VICTORIA – BC Ferries is supporting students in School District 50 – Haida Gwaii and School District 64 – Gulf Islands during the 2020/21 academic year to access Live It, an environmental education platform. The platform features content filmed and produced in British Columbia for students from K-12.“The impact of COVID-19 has made virtual learning more important than ever,” said Janet Carson, Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience for BC Ferries. “Connecting students in Haida Gwaii and the Gulf Islands to Live It aligns with BC Ferries’ environmental stewardship initiatives and recognizes we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth and the need to preserve it for generations to come.”
Live It connects teachers and students to a digital library of educational resources in English and French that incorporate scientific and Indigenous worldviews. Through the Live It online portal, teachers and students can access presentations and embark on virtual field-trips to learn from leading experts. Live It works with trusted partners to curate quality resources that pair with recorded shows.
Through this partnership, students in Haida Gwaii and the Gulf Islands will have direct access to a variety of shows focussed on environmental topics in British Columbia, including wild fires, cetaceans, salmon runs, wolves, the Great Bear Rainforest and more. Since 2018, BC Ferries and Live It have successfully connected thousands of students in British Columbia to online environmental education.
