Terminal Development Plan for Campbell River
BackgroundThe Campbell River terminal forms an important link between Campbell River and the Quadra and Cortes Island communities for residents and visitors alike. In July 2018, the terminal development team along with key staff from various departments at BC Ferries, began the process of creating a Terminal Development Plan (TDP) that will guide future changes at the Campbell River terminal to enhance customer experience and ensure efficient operations over the long term. This planning initiative will help BC Ferries develop this terminal in a cost-effective, phased and efficient way over the next 25 years.
Engaging the communitySince Fall 2018, we have engaged with customers and the community so we could better understand key issues and opportunities for the terminal. We heard from the community (ferry users and terminal neighbours), the Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) for Campbell River, Quadra Island and Cortes Island, government stakeholders, First Nations and employees. Following our presentation of the draft options on February 26 and 27, we compiled the feedback we received and it is posted below.
Where We Are NowYour input helped inform the preferred design that will be included in the TDP. Once the TDP is approved, it will be posted here for you to see. The Terminal Development Planning process was initiated in June 2018 and is expected to be completed in 2020.
