Crofton (Vancouver Island) and Vesuvius Bay (Salt Spring Island)
September 2026 to Summer 2027
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintain safe and reliable terminal facilities, construction work at Crofton Terminal continues, with major life-extension work at Vesuvius Bay Terminal beginning this fall.
To support critical construction activities and key project milestones, the last round-trip sailing between Crofton and Vesuvius Bay will be cancelled Sunday through Thursday from October 18 to December 10, 2026 to provide longer work windows for construction crews.
During this period, a passenger-only water taxi will operate in place of the cancelled sailings. Please note, the temporary water taxi boarding locations are not fully accessible and may present challenges for customers with mobility limitations.
This project includes construction of a new lay-by berth at Crofton, as well as repairs and upgrades to the existing berth and trestle structures at both terminals. These improvements will support the introduction of two-ship service anticipated in 2027, enhancing safety, reliability, and service capacity on the route.
As construction progresses, some work will take place overnight. Customers and nearby residents may notice increased marine and land-based construction activity, lighting, and periodic noise. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption.
Additional adjustments to terminal operations or sailing schedules may be required as construction continues. We will communicate any impacts as early as possible.
