Busy weekend expected

BC Day long weekend is the busiest weekend of the year for ferry travel on the coast. Our major routes between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island are expected to be at or near capacity for vehicles during peak times.

Be prepared for sailing waits if a booking has not been made in advance of travel. Depending on when you arrive, there may be limited or no space available for drive-up vehicles. Check Current Conditions before leaving for the terminal for the latest sailing and capacity information, and check Service Notices for operational updates.

If your plans are flexible, consider taking transit and travel as a foot passenger. Walk-on bookings are available on our major routes at no additional cost and are recommended to help secure your preferred sailing. BC Day long weekend travel tips can be found here.

Highway 99 Overnight Closures

Steveston Interchange Project
Vancouver to Tsawwassen

Beginning July 18, 2025

As part of the Steveston Interchange Project, concrete girders will be installed starting July 18 with an anticipated complete date of July 25. As a result, we expect Highway 99 to be closed during off-peak travel times.

Vehicles travelling during the dates and times noted below will be detoured using the on- and off-ramps at Steveston Highway.

Scheduled Highway Closure and Rerouting Times:

Friday & Saturday
July 18 & 19

Sunday to Friday
July 20 to 25

10:00 pm to 7:00 am

10:00 pm to 4:30 am

Customers looking to travel to or from Tsawwassen terminal along that portion of Highway 99 may be impacted and should plan accordingly. Travellers should be prepared for possible delays as a result.

Intermittent traffic stoppages on the southbound Highway 99 on-ramp will be necessary to allow the girders to be transported into position. On-ramp stoppages will be kept to a maximum of five minutes.

As is currently the case, the Steveston Highway northbound loop ramp onto Highway 99 will remain closed, with traffic rerouted to access the north side on-ramp via left turn lanes.

East-west travel on Steveston Highway will be maintained for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Existing transit stops will be maintained in all directions.

More information on the Steveston Interchange Project can be found on their website here.
