Adverse Weather - Winter Storm Warning in Effect
Updated: Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 2:38 pm
Environment Canada has issued an arctic outflow warning about a weather system that may impact our service starting tonight, Thursday, December 22, until Christmas Evening, Saturday, December 24, 2022. Hazardous winter conditions, including heavy snow, freezing rain, strong winds, and arctic temperatures are expected and travel conditions will be challenging. The warning is in effect for the southern coast.
BC Ferries is closely monitoring the weather forecast over the next few days but is warning of the strong possibility of sailing cancellations on a variety of routes across the fleet. Poor road conditions leading to the terminals as well as high winds are expected to impact operations. BC Ferries will automatically refund customers with bookings if a sailing is cancelled. Customers who made a reservation through our website, and want to change or cancel their booking in advance of the storm, can access their booking from the link in the booking confirmation email.
Please check travel advisories and service notices at BCFerries.com, follow us @BCFerries on Twitter, or visit Current Conditions for up-to-date sailing information, prior to travel. Our Customer Service Centre agents are available to take your calls between 7 am to 10 pm Monday-Friday and 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday. We have been experiencing large call volumes causing extended waits for customers trying to reach us by phone. If your travel is not within the next 48 hours please consider calling us back at a later date, or using our website to self-serve.
Customers may wish to monitor statements and forecasts for the province issued by Environment Canada.
