BC Ferries makes Horseshoe Bay terminal customers aware of detours in place for RBC GranFondo Whistler Sept. 10

VICTORIA - The RBC GranFondo Whistler cycling event from downtown Vancouver to Whistler will be held on Saturday, September 10. BC Ferries wants to let its customers know about traffic modifications that will be in effect for motorists travelling through the Horseshoe Bay terminal before 9:30 a.m. on that day.

For customers planning to travel on sailings departing Horseshoe Bay on the morning of Saturday, September 10, please note that the Stanley Park Causeway and Lions Gate Bridge will be closed to northbound traffic from 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. During this time, motorists can use the Ironworker’s Memorial Second Narrows Bridge. One southbound lane will remain open on the Lions Gate Bridge and causeway. BC Ferries suggests customers allow enough travel time to arrive at the terminal before the scheduled sailing of their choice.

For motorists travelling on sailings that arrive at Horseshoe Bay terminal before 9:30 a.m. on September 10, the east bound lanes of the Upper Levels Highway will be closed to traffic from Horseshoe Bay to Taylor Way from 5:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. During this time eastbound motorists will be re-directed through West Vancouver along Marine Drive.

These impacts will affect the following sailings:

  • 6:25 a.m. sailing from Departure Bay
  • 6:20 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. sailings from Langdale
  • 5:20 a.m., 6:20 a.m., 7:30 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. sailings from Bowen Island
Trucks disembarking from these sailings that are more than 20m in length and 40,000 Kg GVW heading eastbound will be held on Highway 1 at Exit 0 until 9:30 a.m. Drivers of these commercial vehicles may wish to consider taking an alternate sailing. BC Ferries wishes all the participants success in the RBC GranFondo Whistler event. For further information about the revised traffic patterns, visit RBCGranfondo.
