Service notice - Returning to Service - April 16, 2026

Following the completion of repairs and sea trials, the Baynes Sound Connector is scheduled to return to service on the Buckley Bay - Denman Island West route on Thursday, April 16, beginning with the 9:00 am sailing from Buckley Bay.
 
The issue that was identified with the bull wheel system will require additional repair work in the coming months. That work will take place outside of peak season in order to not create any additional disruptions for customers.
 
We recognize that any ongoing mechanical issues are challenging and we were pleased to be able to provide alternate service that meant no change to service levels.
 
To provide added operational flexibility, the Quinitsa will remain available to operate alongside the Baynes Sound Connector through Sunday, April 19, if required.
 
BC Ferries is committed to continuing to maintain the vessel so it can provide service the community can count on.
