Terminal Upgrades
Heriot Bay (Quadra Island)
and Whaletown (Cortes Island)
May 2025 – March 2026
Work continues at the Heriot Bay and Whaletown terminals as part of planned upgrades to prepare for the introduction of an Island Class vessel in summer 2026. These upgrades will enhance service and improve customer experience for years to come.
What to expect:
- No service disruptions are expected through January 2026.
- Customers and nearby residents may notice increased daytime construction noise during this period.
Upcoming service impacts:
To complete the remaining work, a full berth closure at Whaletown will be required. As a result, all regular ferry service between Heriot Bay and Whaletown will be suspended from February 9 to March 1, 2026.
During the berth closure:
- A 40-passenger water-taxi will operate between Mansons Landing (Cortes Island) and the Heriot Bay Government Dock (Quadra Island).
- Complimentary water-taxi tickets can be picked up at the Heriot Bay Government Dock.
- The water-taxi schedule can be found here.
- Complimentary shuttle service will be provided between Quathiaski Cove and Heriot Bay.
- Terminal staff will be on site to assist customers and provide directions to the loading area off Sutil Point Road on Cortes Island, and adjacent to the Heriot Bay terminal on Quadra Island.
