Vessel Repositioning
Tsawwassen (Vancouver) – Duke Point (Nanaimo)
September 21 – October 9, 2023
BC Ferries has regrettably suspended sailings on the Coastal Renaissance due to a mechanical issue with the vessel's #2 drive motor. During this time, the Queen of Alberni and Coastal Inspiration will continue to provide core service on the Duke Point (Nanaimo) to Tsawwassen (Vancouver) route.
The Queen of Alberni will sail in place of the Coastal Renaissance to meet our contractually required sailings on this route under the Coastal Ferry Services Contract.
Sailings on our Duke Point – Tsawwassen route are busy, with limited drive up space. Customers travelling without a confirmed booking are encouraged to consider travelling as a foot passenger or travel on our Swartz Bay (Victoria) – Tsawwassen (Vancouver) route where more space is available. You can read more about how we allocate space on board here.
While the Coastal Inspiration is redeployed, the Queen of Coquitlam will provide service on the Tsawwassen – Duke Point route from October 5 – 10, 2023. Our Customer Service Centre has contacted the reserved Commercial customers affected by this vessel swap, informing them that they have been accommodated on the next available sailing. There is no impact to other reserved customers, and we anticipate no disruptions to the schedule during this period.
The #2 drive motor is being assessed on the Coastal Renaissance by Marine Engineers and a repair plan is being prepared. It does not yet have a return to service date.
For the most up-to-date sailing and departure information, customers can follow our @BCFerries X Account, check Current Conditions or visit bcferries.com.
