Preparing for a busy summer as demand grows and system pressures are expected to continue
We're preparing for another busy summer season, with demand expected to exceed last year’s record levels and anticipated increases in tourism and travel activity associated with major events such as the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Updated policy for transporting immobile, undamaged EVs
Effective May 19, we’re updating our policy to allow immobile, undamaged electric vehicles to be transported under specific conditions, while maintaining safety requirements.
Community input drives changes for Bowen Island
We’re adjusting the weekly Dangerous Goods sailing to an earlier time to help reduce congestion at Snug Cove during peak travel times and improve the travel experience from Bowen Island.
Experience Card changes to provide more flexibility for customers
We're reducing the minimum vehicle Experience Card top-up amount required for online on all routes where the program applies.
BC Ferries receives Lifesaving Society award for Denman Island water rescue
We've received a Water Safety Excellence Award from the Lifesaving Society of BC at the 114th Annual Commonwealth Awards for Honour & Rescue.
Horseshoe Bay booking changes to include customer improvements
All customers travelling by vehicle, including motorcycles, from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo (Departure Bay) are required to book and pay in advance.
Proposal submitted to spread carbon tax savings
We submitted a proposal to the BC Ferries Commissioner to use savings from the elimination of the provincial carbon tax to help offset future fare pressures.
Investing locally to recycle
We’re recycling the Bowen Queen and Powell River Queen right here in BC, supporting local jobs and helping build marine recycling capacity in British Columbia.
