Day1. Victoria to Vancouver Islands' West Coast

Fall is a spectacular time of year to experience the natural beauty that Vancouver Island communities have to offer. From Victoria journey north through the Cowichan Valley enroute to Vancouver Islands’ Pacific Rim region and the Alberni Valley – Gateway to Vancouver Islands world famous West Coast! The communities of Bamfield, Ucluelet and Tofino are well known destinations to outdoor enthusiasts. The world renowned West Coast Trail part of the Pacific Rim National Park is traveled through the spring into the early fall months by a multitude of visitors from around the world wishing to experience the personal satisfaction of hiking the breath taking, historical and challenging trail. Additional hiking trails in the area offer the reward of experiencing the rugged coastal shores blended in harmony with the temperate rainforest ecosystems in the convenience of a shorter time frame. The awe-inspiring winter storms have become legendary and a tourist attraction in their own right. The thundering power of waves crashing upon the rocky shores in a spectacular display of natures’ full force makes the thrill of watching the drama unfold from the comforts of secluded retreat by a raging fire and wrapped in a blanket all the more delightful!

Day2. Vancouver Islands' West Coast to Denman & Hornby Island

From the raw beauty of Vancouver Islands’ West Coast to the enchanting scenery of the East Coast Islands of Denman and Hornby, travel at your leisure back through the Alberni – Clayoquot Region and towards the Courtenay-Comox Region stopping to enjoy unique shops and sites along the way. From Buckley Bay, 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of Courtenay, a 15-minute ferry ride takes you to Denman Island where, after a 15-minute drive, you can take a connecting ferry to Hornby Island. Denman & Hornby Islands boast the highest number of artists per capita in Canada, as well as some of the loveliest hikes, beaches, and quiet retreats.

Day3. Denman & Hornby Islands to Parksville &  Qualicum Beach Area
Return to Buckley Bay before proceeding south on Highway 19A - the Oceanside Route - to the beachside communities of Parksville/Qualicum Beach. This area offers a wide assortment of activities for those seeking to get close to nature. Try your hand at caving at Horne Lake Caves; self-guided tours are possible or arrangements can be made for guided excursions but don’t forget to dress appropriately as you are likely to get a bit wet. Fall is an ideal time of year as well to visit the Big Qualicum Fish Hatchery where you can see the salmon spawning and throughout the year you can learn about the amazing life cycle of salmon. Whether is the many great areas activities and attractions to keep you busy or a relaxing stroll along the vast beach, the Oceanside region will certainly compliment your getaway experience

Day4. Parksville & Qualicum Beach to Victoria

This day finds you heading south, back towards Victoria but along the way don’t miss out on the likes of Nanaimo; the famous murals of Chemainus and the Cowichan Lakes District. There are many opportunities to extend your tour if time permits with visits to Gabriola or Thetis Island or even a ride on the Mill Bay Ferry before returning to the Provincial Capital, Victoria.
