Day 1.
Vancouver to Victoria

Depart Vancouver, taking BC Ferries route from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay (Victoria). On the journey, you'll pass the spectacular Gulf Islands and arrive in plenty of time to visit some of Victoria's many attractions, amongst them Butchart Gardens, the Royal BC Museum, and the stately Empress Hotel. Overnight Victoria.

Day 2.
Swartz Bay to Salt Spring Island

Leaving Victoria, take the ferry from Swartz Bay to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island. On arrival explore nearby Ruckle Point Park before spending the balance of the morning discovering the myriad craft galleries in and around the Island. In the afternoon, take the short ferry ride from Vesuvius to Crofton on Vancouver Island. Continue north to Nanaimo and ferry to Gabriola Island, the “Isle of the Arts”. Overnight on Gabriola.

Day 3.
Nanaimo to Hornby Island

This morning return to Nanaimo and turn north on Highway 19A, the Oceanside Route. Spend some time exploring the beaches of the Parksville-Qualicum area before arriving at the ferry terminal at Buckley Bay for the two-ferry hop--one to Denman Island and then another to Hornby Island. You will want to spend most of the balance of this day and the next on the lovely Islands, touring artists' studios, swimming on a sandy beach, hiking the bluffs and trails, scuba diving or just plain relaxing. Overnight on Hornby or Denman.

Day 4.
Return to Vancouver

In the morning return to Vancouver Island and turn south on Highway 19, the Island Highway. Allow yourself a little time to explore the pretty waterfront walkway of Nanaimo before catching the ferry from Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver.
