Release Date News Item Wednesday, August 18, 2010 BC Ferries Releases First Quarter Results VICTORIA – British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. (BC Ferries) announced its first quarter results today. Net earnings were $0.9 million for the first three months ended June 30, 2010 compared to net losses of $3.6 million in the first quarter of the previous year. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 QUEEN OF NANAIMO TO RETURN TO SERVICE ON FRIDAY AUGUST 6 VICTORIA – The Queen of Nanaimo, which services BC Ferries’ Tsawwassen – Southern Gulf Islands route, will return to service on Friday, August 6, following repairs to the propeller system and the damage to the bow door frame and hinge. This repair work is expected to be complete Thursday night. Tuesday, August 3, 2010 QUEEN OF NANAIMO EXPERIENCES HARD LANDING VICTORIA – The Queen of Nanaimo, which services BC Ferries’ Tsawwassen – Southern Gulf Islands route, experienced a hard landing at the Village Bay terminal on Mayne Island at approximately 7:30 am this morning. Thursday, July 29, 2010 BC FERRIES TO ADJUST FUEL REBATES ON MINOR ROUTES VICTORIA – Effective August 17, BC Ferries is adjusting the fuel rebate on all of its minor routes from 5 per cent to 2 per cent on average. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 BC FERRIES REMINDS CUSTOMERS ABOUT ZERO TOLERANCE FOR DRINKING AND DRIVING VICTORIA – With the B.C. Day long weekend upon us, BC Ferries is reminding customers that the consumption of alcohol on its ships and at its terminals is prohibited. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 BC FERRIES ADDS MORE SAILINGS FOR REMAINDER OF SUMMER VICTORIA – Starting with the B.C. Day long weekend, BC Ferries is adding even more sailings on its busiest routes right through to Labour Day. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 QUEEN OF SURREY RETURNS TO SERVICE VICTORIA – The Queen of Surrey is set to resume to service on the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route as scheduled on Thursday, July 29. With the return of this major vessel, BC Ferries will implement the 5:50 pm commuter sailing from Horseshoe Bay six days per week from July 29 through until September 3. Thursday, July 8, 2010 BC FERRIES PILOTING FREE WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE VICTORIA – BC Ferries will be piloting a free wireless Internet service on all ships servicing the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route, as well as at these two major terminals. The service will enable our customers to text, email and browse the Internet. Thursday, June 24, 2010 COASTAL NATURALISTS ONBOARD BC FERRIES WITH NEW HISTORICAL TWIST VICTORIA – Starting June 25, the Coastal Naturalists are launching their fifth season of educational programs on BC Ferries and this time they are giving visitors a chance to leap back into coastal history.
