Elizabeth J. Harrison, Q.C. -- Chair

Elizabeth Harrison holds a law degree from the University of Alberta. She joined Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy, Barristers and Solicitors, in 1973 and has been a partner of that firm since 1978. Ms. Harrison practises in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance, and general corporate and commercial law. She is a member of the Vancouver, Canadian and International Bar Associations and has served as a director of the International Finance Centre, various corporations and committees. She has been a member of the boards of the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation and Vancouver Opera, and has served as vice-chair of Crofton House School.


Thomas W. Harris -- Vice Chair

Tom Harris is the owner and president & CEO of several Vancouver Island based companies; Tom Harris Chevrolet Cadillac Ltd., Island Kia, Harris Mitsubishi, and Tom Harris Cellular Ltd., a Telus Mobility dealer with 15 locations in B.C. and Alberta. He is a past chair of the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation Board, the British Columbia Automobile Dealers Association (BCADA), and is the immediate past chair of the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), which represents 4,300 franchised new car and truck dealers of all makes from across Canada. He has served as the chair of the Nanaimo United Way Campaign, has recently chaired a successful campaign to build a new permanent home for St. John Ambulance in Nanaimo, and serves on the Nanaimo Community Foundation Board.


Douglas E. Allen

Doug Allen is a partner in Sage Group, a management consulting firm that provides strategic management advice to public and private organizations in B.C. and abroad. Mr. Allen’s background includes 25 years in Canadian government, both provincial and federal. As well, he has served as chair of the B.C. Motor Carrier Commission, chair of B.C. Buildings Corporation and, from Oct. 2002 to May 2003, served as interim president & CEO of BC Ferries. He is currently on the board of the Canada West Foundation. He has a bachelor of arts degree and a master of business administration degree from the University of Alberta, and a graduate certificate in public administration from the University of Hawaii. In 1996, Mr. Allen was a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Medal for Excellence in the Public Service.


Christopher C. Gardner

Christopher Gardner is Vice President of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development for The Britco Group. Mr. Gardner’s experience includes work in the Asia Pacific as a Director of Corporate Finance for Paion Co. Ltd. in Seoul, South Korea, a Director of Corporate Finance for ING Investment Bank in Seoul, South Korea and as a Manager in the International Finance Department of Samsung Electronics in Seoul, South Korea. In the community, Mr. Gardner is a member of the Capital Committee for the Peace Arch Family Hospital Foundation and a member of the Surrey Regional Economic Summit (2008) Organizing Committee for the Surrey Board of Trade. He holds his Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia.


Mark L. Cullen

Mark Cullen is a retired Vice Chairman of RBC Dominion Securities. He is past Chairman of Terasen Inc. and has previous board experience with BC Ferry Corporation, Bentall Corporation, Canfor Corporation, MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates and Wajax Income Fund. He is a Director of the Phillips Hager & North Centre for Financial Research at UBC and Honourary Director of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. Mr. Cullen has a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA.




David L. Hahn

David Hahn joined BC Ferries in May 2003 as president & CEO, bringing with him over 20 years of executive experience to support the transformation of B.C.’s ferry system into a customer-service oriented, commercialized enterprise. He specializes in business restructuring, strategic planning, revitalized marketing, revenue growth, acquisitions and customer service. Much of his experience was a result of a lengthy tenure with the Ogden Corporation in New York. There he held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Ogden Aviation, managing U.S. and international operations, including 25,000 employees and airport operations in 30 countries. Prior to joining Ogden Corporation, Mr. Hahn was the Director of Marketing for Hertz Corporation. He has a bachelor of arts degree from State University College of Buffalo and a master of business administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.


Donald P. Hayes

Donald Hayes is currently the President and CEO of Hayes Forest Services Limited. He serves as Vice Chair of the Board of the Royal B.C. Museum and has past experience in a variety of Boards, including Forest Renewal B.C., Truck Loggers Association and New Relationship Trust and First Nations Initiatives. Mr. Hayes has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Chartered Accountant.


Brian G. Kenning

Brian Kenning is presently a Director on the Boards of British Columbia Railway Company ("BCRC"), MacDonald Dettwiler and Royal Oak Ventures and is Chair of the B.C. Cancer Foundation. He was formerly a director of Catalyst Paper Ltd and Managing Partner of Brookfield Asset Management (formerly Brascan Corporation). Mr. Kenning has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and an MBA.



Gordon R. Larkin

Gordon Larkin is a recently retired Pacific Region Representative with the Canadian Labour Congress. Prior to his 25 years of service to working people throughout BC and the Yukon, Mr. Larkin was a commercial fisherman on BC’s west coast. As such he developed an intimate understanding of BC’s west coast communities and their dependence upon reliable maritime transportation. His career has included involvement in numerous community and political initiatives. A former Director of the Pacific National Exhibition, Member of the BC Racing Commission and long serving member of the Campaign Labour Committee of the United Way of the Lower Mainland, Mr. Larkin is the 2007 recipient of the United Way’s Joe Morris Award in recognition of his commitment to building a better community.


Maureen V. Macarenko

Maureen Macarenko is president of G.W. Nickerson Co. Ltd., a deep-sea ship agency serving the ports of Prince Rupert, Kitimat and Stewart. She has served on the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce as a director for many years, as well as serving as a director of the Prince Rupert Health Care Society, the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, the Prince Rupert Visitors and Convention Bureau, the Prince Rupert Ladies Softball Association, the Prince Rupert Golf Association and the Northwest Corridor Development Corp. Ms. Macarenko was also a founding director of the Prince Rupert Airport and is chair of the Prince Rupert Airport Authority.



A. Daniel Miller

Dan Miller, Senior Counsel with NATIONAL Public Relations, provides clients with public affairs counsel focused on natural resource issues as well as economic and northern development.  In addition to his duties with NATIONAL, Dan is currently the co-chair of the BC Competition Council, a provincially appointed body which advises the government on economic issues and competitiveness.  Before joining NATIONAL, Dan had a long and distinguished public service career, serving as Premier of the Province of British Columbia as well as holding several senior cabinet positions, including energy and mines, forestry, economic development, municipal affairs and skills, training and labour. He was also minister responsible for a number of Crown corporations, including BC Hydro.  First elected to the Legislative Assembly to represent the constituency of North Coast in 1986, he was re-elected in 1991 and 1996. While in Opposition, he was critic for forestry.  Before being elected to the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Miller was a Prince Rupert city councillor.


Wayne H. Stoilen

Wayne Stoilen is currently a consultant and former Executive Vice President of Canadian Stevedoring Company and its subsidiary Casco Terminals Ltd. He was formerly a director of Ridley Terminals Inc. and is currently a director of Delta Community Living Society. Mr. Stoilen has a Bachelor of Science and is a Chartered Accountant.


Graham M. Wilson

Graham Wilson has extensive experience in business and corporate finance having served from 1988 to 2002 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Westcoast Energy and concurrently President and Chief Executive Officer of the Services Division for Westcoast Energy from 2000 - 2002. Previously Mr. Wilson served for five years as Vice President Finance and Administration for PetroCanada Inc. and prior to that was for nine years Vice President Finance of MacMillan Bloedel. Mr. Wilson currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Itron Inc., Hardwoods Income Trust and Daylight Resource Income Trust. Mr. Wilson holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Science from McGill University.
