Travel back to the 1860s and walk through a unique streetscape with more than 125 heritage buildings and displays. Embark on a town tour and explore this world-class heritage site thriving with rich history. Learn all about BC's gold rush town with your expert guide and experience authentic gold panning in the historic town of Barkerville.


  • Wander freely around the vast heritage site and see various heritage buildings showcasing thousands of historical artifacts, photos, maps and documents.
  • Take on a gold panning lesson and pan for a sample of gold to take home with you.
  • Watch an authentic wooden Cornish Waterwheel in action and learn about the working conditions of an underground mining operation during the Waterwheel Show.

Barkerville is open between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Admission tickets are required to enter mid-May through mid-September.

Important Travel Info: Due to COVID-19, Barkerville Historic Site has daily admission caps and ticket availability must be booked and confirmed prior to arrival.
