Reissued on: Wednesday, September 6
Crofton and Vesuvius Ferry Terminal
Timber Trestle Repair Work
July to October 2023
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the safe operation of our terminal facilities, BC Ferries will be carrying out marine work activities to extend the life of the timber trestles on the following dates:
• Vesuvius terminal: Beginning September 5 through the beginning of October
• Crofton terminal: Resuming the beginning of October through the end of October
Work has started at the Vesuvius Terminal
On Tuesday, September 5, a marine rig was mobilized to the Vesuvius terminal site. Work at this terminal will include the use of equipment that may increase the normal sound levels within the terminal. The installation of new piles will have the most notable noise impacts for the residents surrounding the terminal. Installation is expected to take approximately 2 weeks. Nearby residents have been notified.
There will be no operational impacts as this, and all other planned work, will be completed outside of our regular scheduled sailing hours.
Piling installation complete at Crofton Terminal
We are pleased to confirm the piling installation has been completed at the Crofton terminal. Work will resume at this terminal at the beginning of October and will be carried out overnight between the hours of 8:00 pm – 6:30 am to minimize traffic disruption and avoid operational impacts for our customers. All efforts will be made to minimize the noise for our neighbours.
For further updates on the project, please visit bcferriesprojects.ca/terminal-projects.
BC Ferries would like to thank our customers and neighbours for their patience and understanding as we complete this necessary work.
