Queen of Capilano Refit

From January 2 – February 4, 2018, the Queen of Capilano is undergoing a planned maintenance refit that will include a major elevator upgrade, inspection and upgrade of safety equipment, engine overhauls and full repainting. During this time, the Bowen Queen, which has a smaller vehicle capacity, will be providing service on the Horseshoe Bay-Bowen Island route.

To help minimize overloads, we will be providing reduced parking rates at Horseshoe Bay terminal and assured loading for HOV. Bowen Island Community Transit will be operating a shuttle service during weekdays between Horseshoe Bay and Downtown Vancouver.

Assured Loading for High Occupancy Vehicles

Vehicles with four (4) or more persons will be provided assured loading on the 4:35 pm, 5:45 pm and 6:50 pm sailings from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island each weekday.*

*Maximum 10 vehicles per sailing. Vehicles must arrive at Horseshoe Bay no later than 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.

Bowen Island Community Transit

The Bowen Island Community Transit will be operating a shuttle service during weekdays between Horseshoe Bay and Downtown Vancouver.

Travelling to Vancouver from Horseshoe Bay
The shuttle will be stationed on the water side of the BC Ferries building awaiting arrival of the 6:20 am, 7:30 am and 8:35 am sailings from Bowen Island every week day morning. The shuttle will proceed to specific drop-off areas in Downtown Vancouver.

Travelling to Horseshoe Bay from Vancouver
The shuttle will pick-up passengers at the specific locations in Downtown Vancouver to arrive for the 4:35 pm, 5:45 pm and 6:50 pm sailings from Horseshoe Bay to Bowen Island.

Horseshoe Bay Parking Discounts

Reduced Monthly Rate: $100/month + tax (January 2018)

CURRENT Bowen Island monthly Impark users must:

  • Contact Impark customer service at 1-877-909-6199 and request that their current rate be changed to the "Bowen Island Refit – ST Lot" rate and reference the sign up code 134BD35E06. Customers will received a new hang tag for the month of January 2018.

NEW Bowen Island monthly Impark users must:

  • Register (starting December 13, 2017) with Impark customer service at 1-877-909-6199 or www.impark.com. Please reference "Bowen Island Refit – ST Lot" rate and sign up code 134BD35E06.
  • Provide a $25 deposit for the hang tag, to be refunded upon its return.

Note: Customers must be Bowen Island Residents with a valid Bowen Island address to take advantage of this discounted rate. This discounted rate is available for the month of January 2018. Please allow 5-10 business days for the delivery of your new parking hang tag. Display your hang tag on vehicle's rear view mirror at all times. Parking in reserved stalls is not permitted. Failure to follow the steps outlined will result in a parking violation.

Reduced Daily Rate: $10/24 hours, starting December 28, 2017

To take advantage of the discounted daily parking rate, customers must:

  • Register (starting December 13, 2017) with BC Ferries Customer Service and obtain a special dashboard pass and meter code for this period
  • Customer service is located behind the foot passenger ticket booths and is open 7 days a week from 7:45 am to 8:45 pm
  • Bowen Island residents will need to provide Customer Service with:
    • A driver's license showing a Bowen Island address
    • Make and model of vehicle using the surface lot
    • Vehicle license number
  • Customer will choose the Bowen Island Refit option on the Impark meter and enter the meter code provided with registration.

Note: Customers must be Bowen Island Residents with a valid Bowen Island address to take advantage of this discounted rate. This discounted rate will be available starting December 28, 2017 and will only be valid until February 4, 2018. Parking at this rate is ONLY in the surface parking lot and not permitted anywhere else. Customers must display registered dashboard pass AND Impark payment receipt on their dashboard. Failure to follow the steps outlined will result in a parking violation.
