Community Facts

On Hwy. 1 just 65 km. (40 miles) east of Vancouver, Abbotsford is the “City in the Country”. Agriculture here is varied and exotic: tulips, daffodils, ostrich, llamas, kiwi, vegetable and dairy farms thrive in the area. The City is the regional shopping centre for the Fraser Valley.

  • Annual Berry Festival. Celebrate the productivity of local growers with raspberry and strawberry pies, art and craft displays and street entertainment.
  • International Music Festival. School bands and music groups from Canada and the U.S. perform and march in a colourful parade in April.
  • Annual Agrifair. Milking contests, draft horses, rodeo, country music, antique farm machinery and fireworks.
  • Bradner Flower Show. Lights up the region with brilliant blossoms every spring.
  • Abbotsford International Airshow. For three decades, the leading North American Airshow. Features aerial acrobatic teams, vintage aircraft and stunt flyers in August.
  • Matsqui-Sumas-Abbotsford (MSA) Museum & Trethewey House. Main floor of the house is restored to authentic 1920s style, with exhibits telling story of earliest residents, the Sto:lo people, and pioneer loggers and farmers.
  • Skydive. People have been experiencing the thrill of parachuting with an experienced jumper for 30 years.
  • Rockclimbing. Guided rock climbing, rappelling and canyoneering expeditions in the Fraser Valley and beyond all year round.
