Community Facts

The City of Smithers is located at the base of spectacular Hudson Bay Mountain in the Bulkley Valley. It’s alpine theme and unique shops make Smithers a natural stop. The local population is just over 5,000, however, the City services an area population of about 25,000. Visitors can expect to find all amenities. From deluxe hotel/motel and lodge/bed & breakfast to great camping, Smithers has it all.

Attractions include the local museum, art gallery, Driftwood Canyon Provincial Park, Adam’s Igloo Wilderness Museum, Glacier Gulch, Toboggan Creek Hatchery and an abundance of hiking and walking opportunities into alpine meadows and lakes. Two courses challenge the golfer. River fishing is world class.

The area ski mountain is famous for powder snow and the cross country trails are numerous. Snowmobilers find fun and challenge on The Onion and The Dome.
