One hour on paved road from Highway 16 at Topley, The Village of Granisle is situated on Babine Lake, the longest natural lake in British Columbia.
Originally the home of local workers in a nearby copper mine, the community has become a centre for tourism. Hotel and condominium accommodation and well maintained campgrounds welcome the visitor. Local shops offer the “right” fishing tackle to catch rainbow, char, kokanee and ling cod. Several lodges can also be accessed by boat or floatplane. Houseboat and fishing boat rentals are available too. A beautiful log building houses the museum and visitor centre. It’s worth a stop.
Be sure to visit Fulton River Fish Hatchery if you visit in August. You’ll see one of the largest salmon runs in the world.
