Called the Gateway to the Lakes District and it’s true. Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, the largest in BC, is accessible only by air, water or foot. However, visitors can drive to Francois, Ootsa, Tesinkut, to name just a few. The Nanika-Kid Price Canoe Route starts nearby, or access Babine Lake’s south shores. Deadman’s Island, the smallest Provincial site in BC is accessible only by water. Visitors should take the free ferry across Francois Lake.
Visit the museum, the Native Art Gallery, Nourse Creek Falls, Nadina Fisheries, Pinkut Artificial Spawning Grounds, Tintagel Cairn and Eagle Creek Agate and Opal Site. Local Mill Tours are also offered. The Burns Lake Walking Tour takes visitors to restored historical buildings.
A hotel and several motels greet the visitor. RV resorts and campgrounds are numerous.
