Community Profile - Pink Mountain

Community Facts

North of Fort St. John, the Alaska Highway passes through the tiny community of Pink Mountain in the Rocky Mountain foothills. Aptly-named, the actual Pink Mountain glows a vibrant pink colour at a certain time during sunrise. Also, the riot of vibrant pink wildflowers which bloom here in the summer attract a very rare species of Arctic butterfly.

In addition, Pink Mountain has been recognized as a major archaeological site for northern B.C. — remains of an historic marine mammal have been discovered in the area. And the surrounding mountain lowlands are the only place in the province where wild plains bison still roam. For visitors stopping in Pink Mountain, motel and campground facilities are available.
