Mile 0 of Highway 37, Kitimat is home to the massive Alcan Aluminum smelter, Methanex and Eurocan Pulp & Paper. It's a very new community and it's location on the Douglas Channel offers outstanding recreation opportunities. Fishing, cruising, natural hot springs, hiking, whale watching and river fishing on the Kitimat River are favoured activities. The City has a superior recreation centre and a championship golf course.
