Effective immediately, a new form is being used at all Southern Islands terminals
to document free student travel occurring outside of usual student commuter sailings.
Student commuter sailings are those sailings on which the bulk of students travel when going to and returning from school (on designated school days only).
Students going to and returning from school outside of the usual student commuter sailing for their route will be asked to complete and sign a “Free Travel Acknowledgement Form” at the ticket booth and obtain boarding passes (where available) if walking on the ferry. This will apply at all times to students traveling for school activities or junior association events.
There is no change to the existing policy related to free student and junior association travel, only to the procedure being used to document the travel.
BC Ferries thanks our customers for their cooperation as we implement this new procedure to record student travel.
