FAQs - Reservations

Do I need to make a reservation?
Booking in advance provides a guarantee that you will travel on the sailing that you have booked. Customers can also travel without booking in advance, but will travel on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis once at the terminal. Drive up space is available on all bookable sailings with the exception of the Tsawwassen – Southern Gulf Island route, which is 100 per cent reservable. Reservations are strongly recommended on this route.

How can I request/book/reserve to be on the upper vehicle deck?
Your booking guarantees you a space on the confirmed sailing, however, it does not guarantee which deck your vehicle will be placed on. The Loading Officer determines the placement of vehicles as they are loading the vessel and considers several factors - width and height of a vehicle, the need to balance weight distribution, maximizing the number of vehicles loaded and facilitating on-time departures.

I have a reservation. Does my vehicle load on the vessel first?
We need to load more than one lane at a time to adhere to our schedule. Booked customers are generally loaded first, and may be loaded on both the upper and lower car decks.

I have an Assured Loading Card. Does my vehicle load first on the vessel?
We need to load more than one lane at a time to adhere to our schedule. Assured Loading Card holders are generally loaded first, and may be loaded on both the upper and lower car decks.

What qualifies as a special circumstance to request being on the upper vehicle deck?
Customers with special circumstances such as medical difficulties, challenges or special needs that may preclude them exiting their vehicle may make a request to be on the upper vehicle deck by letting the ticket agent know when they arrive at the terminal. Where this is possible, we will try and accommodate your request.

Can I wait for the next sailing to be loaded on the upper deck?
Yes, you will have the option to wait for the next available sailing if being on the upper car deck is a priority for you. In consideration of our customers that are currently waiting for the sailing, we need to maintain loading order.
