Following the completion of an extensive competitive bidding process, BC Ferries selected Flensburger Schiffbau–Gesellschaft (FSG) of Germany to build three new Super C–class vessels.

FSG is one of the world's leading shipyards with state of the art design and production facilities. FSG has extensive experience building large, complex vessels, having built 724 ships in total including 17 roll–on/roll–off (ro/ro) ferries since 1999.
